Life Hack - Money Saving - January

Following are today's Life Hacks for you:

New Year is coming soon and we should start planning for how to save money for next year. In the next few post i will be mentioning about what products to buy on monthly bases to save more money effectively. Following information is gathered from different different sources, which can be viewed by checking the links at the end of this post.

The Best Items to Buy in January 

Business Insider:
  • "Winter- related apparel like sweaters, coats, and scarves all go on sale post- holiday.
  • New 2014 furniture collections are often released in February, so dealers are trying to move old products. Invest in discounted chairs, tables and couches.
  • Before Valentine's Day causes a surge in prices, stock up on fine jewelry and perfume. "- Business Insider

  • "Clothing: Have you ever been to a clothing store post-Christmas? It's amazing. They're all having mad sales after the holiday rush, so now's a great time to grab some extra clothes if you need them. The selection won't always be great, but prices will. [Di Vincenzo]
  • Broadway Tickets: Broadway's slower months are in the winter and fall, so January's a great time to seek out some discounts. You probably won't find them for the more popular shows, but if you're looking to branch out, this is the time to do it. [CNN]

  • Furniture: Different furniture is better at different times of the year (and we've noted examples in this guide), but January is a great general clearance time, since most furniture companies release new products twice a year: in February and August.   • Linens and Bedding: Ever since John Wannamaker started the first "white sale" in 1878, January has been the best month to get bedding and other linens.   • Motorcycles: It's really cold outside. Not to mention icy. It doesn't make for great cycling weather, but if you've been mulling over a motorcycle purchase, get it in January and then wait to ride it when the snow melts. [Motorcycle.com]
  • Suits: Not a lot of people buy suits in January, so you may see prices drop to get you into the store. Remember, though, you get what you pay for, so don't go too overboard with the cost-cutting. [Di Vincenzo]

It's an American tradition to this day.
  • January and February are also the best months to book a cruise, says Geraldine Ree, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Expedia CruiseShipCenters. She says travelers start thinking about vacation plans after the holidays, and "to take advantage of this demand, cruise lines work with travel agency partners to put out their best booking incentives of the year during this time."

  • Another reason cruise discounts are offered during these months is that the industry likes to plan ahead and book as many cabins as it can for the entire year.
